Drying flowers

Writer: sachaprzsachaprz

This year, with autumn wreaths and a January wedding to prepare for, not to mention Christmas (too soon I know!) I am experimenting with drying flowers. This is the first batch and included Eryngium (sea holly), clary sage, strawflower, Verbena bonariensis, Gypsophilia, Achillea, Ammi majus, lavender, Carmanthus, Emilia javanica, Salvia sclaera var. turkestanica and various grasses. I have hung them in the kitchen as in the pictures below but also in a dark airing cupboard to see the difference light makes to the drying process and colour retention. I'll the post the results and any differences later in the summer. In the meantime plenty more flowers and seed heads to keep experimenting with!
