Back in Autumn 2016 we bought a set of derelict barns in the Somerset countryside. We optimistically (and necessarily) had a strict budget and an equally strict deadline for completion due to the impending arrival of our first child!
We fell in love with the barn on our first visit and could see how much potential the property had. It is located on one of the oldest farms in the area and is surrounded by countryside. It still seemed a bit of a pipe-dream but we started making enquires about building costs and specialist mortgages and put our little 2 bed terraced cottage on the market. Somehow we managed to pull it all together and the build commenced late in 2016. In the following posts I'll go through the main build stages and some before during and after photos.
